Blake Street Tavern will be closing its doors after 20 years on Blake St. in Lower Downtown Denver.

The giant sports bar first opened in 2003 after PolyEsters Night Club closed its doors in the early 2000’s. This made Blake Street Tavern one of the largest sports bar establishments in Denver when it opened in the historic building in which it is housed. The plan, according to The Denver Gazette, is to close on April 9th after the Colorado Rockies home opening home stand; giving Rockies fans one last home stand to enjoy the big house on Blake. No reason has been made public as to the reason the sports bar is closing.

Owned by Chris Fusilier, countless sports and food loving patrons have enjoyed games and drinks before, during and after games. There have been so many Rockies fans who’ve drifted to Blake Street Tavern, a mere block away from Coors Field. This is a giant loss for Lower Downtown that will be extremely difficult to replace. Thanks to Chris Fusilier for being a bright spot in Denver for so many years.
