Happy post-4/20, Denver! If you’re here for 4/20 tips, you’re late, but we’re not surprised. Jon Ekstrom, Kevin Batstone, and Arthur Rawe are here getting real rural at you with all the best stuff from the week that was and the week that will be. Here’s the rundown what you can expect to hear as you dive headlong into the weekend:
*Kevin and Arthur went to The Frickashinas album release party (Jon is jealous), but Jon was in Seattle with his wife (therefore much less jealous). Hear about both in our first segment!
*Regal Cinemas closes iconic Continental Theater on Hampden and I-25. We share our memories of favorite movies seen there and eulogize the legendary location. Full story here from 9News.
*Netflix winds down its mail service. Will anyone miss it? We talk about it. Full story here.
*Tragedy strikes the Colorado Gator Farm and Jon shares a hilarious story of getting sassed by a 5 year-old girl when he went there for a bachelor party. Read the full story about the tragedy here.
*The Lyrid Meteor Shower has returned. Check out some stargazing and get the full rundown here.
*The Irish Snug has been bought and will be re-purposed into “Crazy Horse” which is a callback to Old Denver. We dig it! Check out who bought it, and how they’re throwing it back to Old Denver here.
*The Denver area’s best brewery (at least according to Google reviews) is New Terrain Brewing. The owners have bought the building which is awesome. We talk about it, and the story can be found here.
*Colorado is home to an abundance of restaurants unique to us. Here are 8 of them for you to enjoy. Which one is your favorite?
*We talk about cool stuff to do this weekend, which includes an abundance of playoff basketball and hockey. Visit our sister site Mile High Sports for the best coverage in Denver. Also a shout to our AWARD-WINNING colleague Kip Wilson for showing up in both Westword’s Best Of Denver and The Denver Post for his incredible taste as part of Stoned Appetit. He’ll point in the right direction.
Our theme song comes from The Frickashinas
