After being forced to close a year ago in January owners of the Denver Five Points soul food/Caribbean stalwart, Welton Street Cafe announced they will be opening up at a new location in June.
The nearly 40 year old mainstay was left no choice but to temporarily close in March of 2022 due to rapidly rising rent in their previous location on Welton St that they had occupied since 1999. This resulted in a GoFundMe campaign that raised more than $100 thousand to fund a move to a new location. The restaurant was founded in Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood in 1985, and had moved to their last location in 1999. Their new spot is slated for 2883 Welton St. not far from their previous building.
