Most fans of the classic rock genre around Colorado know the name Phil Lesh, especially if you are into the jam band scene. Lesh, the 82-year-old musician most famous from his near four-decade run with the Grateful Dead, is still truckin’ on with his current mates: Phil Lesh & Friends. The legendary bassist is teaming up with several excellent musicians throughout the jam band scene, including James Casey from the Trey Anastasio band, Graham Lesh from the Terrapin Family Band, and Rich Mitarotonda from Goose.
Phil Lesh & Friends are scheduled to play one show in the Denver metro area at the Mission Ballroom, located at 4242 Wynkoop St, Denver, CO 80216. The show is set for Saturday, February 4th; however, due to demand, the group has added a second night on Sunday, February 5th. Mission Ballroom is. a state-of-the-art venue and a great place to see a musician like Lesh.
This will give fans of Lesh, the Grateful Dead, and the jam band scene another opportunity to see one of the genre’s pioneers. Phil Lesh & Friends are not formally touring, instead opting for a round of shows in select cities across the country. The group most recently played the Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam and has a few shows lined up before the end of 2022.
Unlike Dead & Company, Phil Lesh & Friends is a group formed and spearheaded by Lesh himself. In addition, while Dead & Company is a group comprised of living members of the Grateful Dead, Lesh has opted not to tour with his old bandmates, instead focusing on his own personal passions.
